This week, we are looking at Gatsby Benchmark 8, Personal Guidance. You can find out more information about GBM8 on our website via this link - Gatsby Benchmark 8

As a Career Leader you are responsible for ensuring that pupils have access to to at least two personal guidance interviews by the end of year 13. You will need to

  • Ensure that you understand the professional practice of career advisers

  • Manage the links between career advisers and other school/ college staff to ensure that referrals work well

  • Develop a delivery approach through managing key staff or commissioning external services.

The Career Leader handbook prove you more insight into common models, the understanding of career conversations and when to refer to a career professional, ethical and professional standards that guidance professionals work to, how to procure and manage guidance services and linking guidance to wider pastoral and students support services.

Personal guidance is still a critical role in providing personalises support and in helping students link together the learning that they have done on the other benchmarks
