STEM Ambassadors LIVE! - James Betts: How steam turbines work

James Betts from Viridor will be conducting a session on steam turbines.

“Almost everyone reading this will know about, and understand, the basic function of wind turbines and gas turbines. This is no real surprise given wind turbines are so big, and gas turbines are used on aeroplanes.

But have you heard about steam turbines? Would you believe me if I said they produce approximately 70% of the worlds power? That they are used in submarines, ships, industrial processes and most power stations and oil refineries all over the world? And that some spin at 250 times a second?! If you want to learn more, join my presentation.”
